About Armen

Husband & Father - Veteran - Community Leader

Armen is a decorated and retired Navy Captain with over 25 years of service, and 2,500 flight hours, including three deployments and over a decade of developing, testing, and fielding some of the Navy’s most advanced systems. He holds two MBA’s, a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering, a Certificate in Public Leadership from the Brookings Institute, plus many other professional certifications. Armen’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, and Joint Commendation Medal among many others.

Experience

During Armen’s time in the Navy, he managed a $100M budget and led hundreds of men and women in developing, fielding, and sustaining our most complex aircraft, sensors, and equipment. As an E-2C Naval Flight Officer, he served all over the world, including the Persian Gulf, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and Taiwan. He was routinely hand-selected to solve critical operational issues and serve as liaison with foreign military officers thanks to his strength in building relationships. He worked as the Vice President for West Coast Operations for one defense contractor, and is now a Senior Systems Engineer and Lead Associate for another defense firm.

Community Leadership

Armen is a board member, vice president, and secretary of the Veterans’ Writing Group of San Diego County, who help veteran authors record and publish their history and memoirs, providing healing and therapy through the written word. In 2024, Armen received the Veteran’s Leadership Award from Asm. Laurie Davies for his tireless work to improve the Vista Community. He is also an appointed member of the Palomar Airport Advisory Committee, which provides advice and guidance to the County Board of Supervisors regarding matters affecting the airport and community. Armen has also coached youth sports including Vista Storm soccer and Vista Little League.

Family

Armen has been very happily married to Lindi Kurdian, a former small business owner and current real estate agent, for over 17 years. Together they raise their son Gregory who attends school in Vista and is in the 4th grade.
