About Senate District 38
This district spans all the way from Pacific Beach, including parts of Carmel Valley, Del Mar, La Jolla, up through Sorrento Valley, Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Vista. It also includes all of Camp Pendleton into Orange County up to Ladera Ranch and Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and San Juan Capistrano.
A total of about 950K live in the district from all walks of life. It is a mostly coastal district, with an ethnically diverse population. Housing affordability, education, and public safety are top issues, along with promoting and supporting small business which employ half of the workforce.
